"One Country: Two Systems": The Impact on Hong Kong's Political Economy of the Return to Chinese Sovereignty. This paper explores the two stages of Hong Kong's economic processes. The first part of this paper explores the nature of Hong Kong's economy under British rule, while the second part of this paper identifies the status of the political economy from 1997 to the current day. This paper concludes with an assessment of the features that most dramatically impacted Hong Kong's political economy in both periods, and the significance of such features for Hong Kong's economic future.
