Investigating the Chirping of Crickets: Mating Versus Territory. This paper presents the views of an evolutionary scientist according to the scientific method to investigate the question: Why do crickets chirp? This paper investigates this question through creating a testable hypothesis and an alternative hypothesis and through running these hypotheses through a simulation.
